end to end encounter
The final proved to be an end-to-end encounter with both judokas not dropping an inch until the final whistle as they both failed to register a single point at the end of regulation time. The competition then went into a golden score time, where South African judokas won the gold medal by winning a point by placing Sushila Devi’s shoulder on the mat.
